Congratulations, President Winkhart!

Please help us congratulate Scott Winkhart on his appointment to President of the Canton Professional Firefighter's Local 249. Scott is a 24 year veteran of the fire service and brings along a plethora of experience and knowledge with him. Scott began his career in Bethlehem Twp. as a volunteer firefighter while he attended college for business, marketing and accounting. After finishing paramedic and fire school, he was hired full-time at Perry Twp. where he later became a charter member of the Perry Twp. Professional Firefighter's Local 3960. Scott was hired on to Canton Fire in early 2000. After "doing his time on the medic," he was assigned to Truck 4 and later to Chief's driver. Scott is currently assigned as an inspector/investigator in the Fire Prevention Bureau and is a certified peace officer.
We would also like to thank Winkhart's predecessor, Brian Garber. Garber well represented our union body during his 8 year presidency. His high level of dedication, leadership and professionalism during his term did not go unnoticed. As President Winkhart mentioned, "he has some very large shoes to fill." During last nights meeting, Garber expressed his gratitude to the body and stated that he plans on being very active within the union.
