An early moring fire (apparently starting in the steeple) of the First Christian Church, located at 430 Cleveland Ave. SW, built in 1905, The first alarm came in at 04:12, and when first-in units arrived, the entire steeple was fully involved. All Canton engines (except one), ladders, and 70 firemen were at the scene for over eight hours. The building was scheduled for demolition as part of the "Newmarket downtown renewal project."
