It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired Captain Michael Horn. Captain Horn passed away on January 17th, 2021 after a brief battle with illness. Mike was hired by The City of Canton on April 24,1989 and was promoted to the rank of Captain on April, 13th 2002. Prior to being hired with CFD, he served in the United States Air Force. Mike also worked many years as a butcher at Giant Eagle. During his career with Canton Fire, Captain Horn held assignments on all three battalions and as department training officer. Mike also served on the Stark County Hazmat team. His final assignment was Engine #5 with the 2nd Battalion. Captain Horn retired on March 14th, 2021 with 31 years of service. Since the news of Captain Horns passing, our stations have been filled with "Horn stories." During this sad time, our members have taken comfort in camaraderie, sharing in memories of friendship and good times with Captain Mike. Captain Horn left an impression on everyone he met. Please keep Captain Horn's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
